ChatGPT

Ask OpenAI's assistant — query lands in the chat box

The most general-purpose assistant: strong at reasoning, drafting and code, with web browsing available on paid tiers. Best first stop when you do not yet know how to frame the question.

Perplexity

AI answer engine with cited sources

An answer engine rather than a chat toy — every paragraph carries inline citations you can open. The right tool for “what is the current state of X” questions.

Claude

Anthropic AI for writing, code and analysis

Long-context analysis and careful writing; excels when you paste a contract, transcript or codebase and ask for structure. Tends to flag uncertainty instead of inventing detail.

Copilot

Microsoft AI companion, web-connected

Microsoft’s assistant, grounded in Bing and wired into Windows and Office. Best value if your documents and email already live in Microsoft’s ecosystem.

Grok

xAI assistant with real-time X knowledge

Trained with access to X posts, so it is unusually current on social-first topics and breaking chatter. Verify anything it reports as fact — speed is the point, not accuracy.

You.com

AI search with multiple model choices

Lets you switch between several underlying models and search modes in one interface. Useful when you want to compare model behaviour without separate subscriptions.

Phind

AI search built for developers

Built for developers: answers lean toward code, documentation and stack traces, with links to the sources it used. Good for “why does this API behave this way”.

iAsk.AI

Instant natural-language AI answers

No-account, instant answers with a plain interface. Fine for quick factual questions; not the place for nuanced or high-stakes work.

About the AI Chat channel

Asking one AI assistant is a single opinion delivered with total confidence. Asking three is a cross-examination. ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Copilot are trained differently, retrieve differently and hedge differently — put the same question to two of them and the disagreement itself is the useful signal.

This channel is built for that comparison. Type a question once, then open the assistants you trust, each in its own tab. Use Perplexity when you need citations, ChatGPT when you need reasoning or code, Claude when the input is long, Copilot when you live in Microsoft 365. Read in a fixed order so differences stand out, and treat any answer without a source as a draft rather than a fact.

AI Chat search — frequently asked questions

Why ask several AI assistants instead of one?

Different models have different training data, retrieval and refusal behaviour. When two agree and cite sources, confidence goes up; when they disagree, the disagreement tells you which claim needs checking.

Do my questions get sent to all the assistants at once?

No. Each card opens one site with your question pre-filled in its own interface, and you decide which to send. Nothing is forwarded automatically.

Which assistant should I use for research with sources?

Start with Perplexity for citations, then verify the cited pages. Use ChatGPT or Claude to synthesise once the sources are in front of you.

Can I compare answers without logging in?

Some assistants (iAsk.AI, parts of You.com) allow limited anonymous use. ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot require an account for most features, so log in once and reuse the session.
